This is a video checkpoint for a Lego Mindstorms NXT robot that we created using LeJOS to play Guitar Hero. The robot was created as a final project for CS 195 (Hands on Robotics) at the University of Vermont,Fall ’08 semester. It uses an NXTCam from Mindsensors to recognize the notes, and two Mindstorms NXT bricks connected with bluetooth to finger the notes and operate the flipper. There is still some work to be done to get it fully operational, but we’ve made a lot of progress so far. On the to do list at the time of this video is tweaking the lag time between when the robot sees a note and actually plays it. To get a note to play correctly we also need to improve the fingers and get the second brick that controls the flipper working. Additionally we want to improve the note recognition. You can find an updated video of our much improved robot at www.youtube.com

This robot was built using Lego Mindstorms NXT and programmed using RobotC and uses PID controller software that I designed. It makes the circuit in about 9 seconds. It uses two servo motors and one light sensor to follow the right hand edge of a black line on a white surface. Gary Samad

A lego robot I made in 2001 with the RCX. It uses two motors and one angle Sensor. The model is inspired by the interlacing legs biped walker at Mario Ferrari`s personal web pages. The weaknesses on this model is the weak motor on the legs and the angle sensor who could be better. RoboFlush has one purpose, to flush a toilet. Using the Lego Mindstorms NXT Kit, with a motor, touch sensor for manual flushing, and the ultrasonic sensor for flush detection, RoboFlush removes the need to flush your own toilet. Check out www.battlebricks.com for instructions and more!

This robot draws portraits, elaborating photos and images. The software on the PC is developed under MATLAB®, following the ideas of Claude Baumann and his students at www.restena.lu (Erik’s XY plotter). The hardware is LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT® and a soft tip pen. Made by Daniele Benedettelli in 2008. More details at robotics.benedettelli.com

LEGO nxt Line Follow with moving sensor 1.0http://nxt-jump.com/nxt-sensors/141/lego-nxt-line-follow-with-moving-sensor-1-0/ http://nxt-jump.com/nxt-sensors/141/lego-nxt-line-follow-with-moving-sensor-1-0/#comments Fri, 16 Oct 2009 13:32:56 +0000 Eric http://nxt-jump.com/nxt-sensors/lego-nxt-line-follow-with-moving-sensor-1-0 Continue reading ]]> Interresting facts with the concept:
- Moving light sensor can replace multiple sensors in theory
- I had to compensate sensor movment backlash from software
- Algorythm 1.0 restricts to the seen top speed
- Corrects course on slide ends, thus it can easily loose path (aka 2 wide samples per second)

Future possible improvements:
- Smaller backlash from hardware
- Automatic backlash calibration
- More intelligent driving algorythm
- Continuous sampling, and path adaptation
- Lost line situation handling

LEGO WALL-E NXT revisedhttp://nxt-jump.com/nxt-education/139/lego-wall-e-nxt-revised/ http://nxt-jump.com/nxt-education/139/lego-wall-e-nxt-revised/#comments Fri, 16 Oct 2009 13:32:36 +0000 Eric http://nxt-jump.com/nxt-education/lego-wall-e-nxt-revised Continue reading ]]> Wall-E – In honor of Disney latest Pixar Movie.

NXT – The next (or just the beginning) of Lego’s programmable brick technology. Lego has done an amazing job of allowing it’s technology to be fully ‘hacked’ Hardware as much as software wise. (uses 1 rechargeable pack or 6 AA batt) .

Lego Technic – Super well engineered Lego piece that allow you to designed anything you can imagine. It evolved from stud to studless similarly like the RCX evolved into the NXT yet all of it –ALL Lego– works together from the first piece 50 years ago to the latest Bionicle set.

Power Functions (PF) – Lego latest motor system for the Technic line. (uses 6 AA batt)

HiTechnic – A Lego certified third party sensor vendor, makers of the IRlink to name just one, allows the control of PF motors via the NXT.

Mindsensors – Yet another third party sensor vendor, first to develop the NXTServo module, allow for up to 8 RC hobby servos (like Futaba’s) to be controlled via only one NXT’s sensor port. (uses 4 AA batt).

NXT-G – The software designed by Labview that ships with the retail NXT kit.
my Wall-E NXT – just one example of combining all of these technologies into one well known cinema robo-hero.

SPECS: 1 NXT with rechargable pack, 3 Servo Motors, 4 PF motors, 2 IR receiver, 1 UltraSonic sensor, 1 sound sensor, 1 IRlink, 1 NXTservo module and 1 mini RC servo, 10 AA batteries and Lego from the Bulldozer #8275 and other parts from various technic sets, topped with over 100 hours of fun.

Again THANKYOU all for your support, comments and kind words. Remember you can always eMail me for any Lego related questions.
