Sounds like you don’t want to leave traces of what you’ve been doing. Here’s how. This is for Word XP(2002), but the idea is the same for probably all current versions of Word: Turn off or empty the Recently Used Files list.

1. Click on the Tools->Options menu item.
2. Click the General tab.
3. Deselect Recently Used Files.
4. Click OK.

That will do it. If you turn the option back on, the list will still be empty, but will start to fill up again.
