ok, Carl… it was a 2 inch piece of plastic, not 4 or 5 inches of metal! You person, get an honorary facedesk. You should really go and remember your days (or day) at school. I remember when kids would pull up with shotguns in the gun racks in their trucks and park for the day b/c they just got out of the field from hunting, or plan on going out right after school. (yeah i know, i grew up in a backwater red-neck type of town)

The problem with schools nowadays is that they don’t teach students to use the word nowadays.

There is nothing wrong with the school. No guns means no guns. The kid was disciplined not expelled. A real gun can be as small as 5 inches that can kill. When a toy is a toy fine, warn them. But when you can not tell a toy from the real thing until too late, we all know what happens. A 4 or 5 inch toy gun can look very real or be very real. When a line is drawn it has to be enforced.

You know, the worst that should have happened in that case is that the teacher take the toy away from the kid during school hours and give it back to him at the end of the day.

To the above poster: The gun in question was a lot smaller than 4 inches [read the story], someone would have to be pretty dense to think that a toy gun made for action figures is real. Gun manufacturers simply do not make guns that tiny [there'd be no point as no human could use the fire arm.]
